HOW DO I STAY MOTIVATED OVER THE HOLIDAYS?
How do we stay motivated over the holidays? That is SO DIFFICULT. We have this party, or that oyster roast, or family time . . .
All of these celebrations are good for us and our hearts, but how do we stay motivated?
Write down your workouts every week. If we blow one workout off, we have the tendency to let the next one will fall aside, then the next one, and then all of a sudden you’re like “oh my gosh I have not worked out in two weeks!”
This is the season where we kind of sabotage ourselves, and the trick is not to “go there” in the first place.
Don't throw away your progress!! Motivate yourself!
⭐️ Decorate your workout spot (like my daughter Becka did for me!!) ⭐️ Use your favorite water bottle ⭐️ Wear your favorite t-shirt or tights ⭐️ Call your favorite friend to workout with you ⭐️ Place Post-It Note reminders on your mirror or fridge ⭐️
Put the water bottle and t-shirt by your bathroom mirror where you’ll see them every morning before you start your day. Same with fun leggings! Invest in some crazy, bright workout gear that you look forward to wearing. I love the leggings from Sweaty Betty.

The recipes I include are quick, healthy and delicious to me. I’m always busy and in a hurry, so cooking fresh is a challenge. I hope sharing these recipes saves you time and that you enjoy.

Sweet Potato Casserole is one of my favorite Southern treasures! But I've learned to make it lighter without adding sugar or too much butter. Sweet potatoes are naturally sweet! Collard greens are honestly my favorite "can't wait to eat!" during Thanksgiving. It's no secret that I'm as Southern as can be, and was raised on Southern-style cooking.
Through the years, I have learned ways to still enjoy my Southern-style side dishes with much less fat
I discovered how wonderfully tender collards turn out with an InstaPot. Even my mom approved of this recipe, and she had no idea I skipped the fat back or bacon. My trick is to add smoked or mesquite paprika to give a hint of smoked flavor.

F.I.T. FAMILY MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Workout anywhere! Faye loves that she can take these online group training classes outside at her house.
Faye has been a part of our F.I.T. Family for a year and a half.
I had the pleasure of meeting Faye through group fitness classes years ago. I knew right from the get-go her dedication to staying fit. When I started teaching Zoom online exercise classes at the beginning of the pandemic, I wanted to reach out to her because I knew she would want to keep up her routine and stay healthy.
I love hearing her say, “I have to leave right after class because I have a pickle ball match.” I’ve often thought I wouldn’t want to be her opponent on the court 😜. I'm sure that her strength and smarts make her a force to be reckoned with. She is such a great example for us all of leading a healthy lifestyle!
