How to Stay Disciplined When Motivation Fades

Updated: May 17, 2022

“You won't always be motivated so you must learn to become disciplined."

This quote runs true throughout our daily lives, from exercise and nutrition to work and school. It’s hard to always be upbeat or ready to tackle the day with the curve balls life throws our way. Or sometimes, we're simply too tired to stay motivated all the time!

We are human, and we have to allow for the fact that we aren’t going to be full of energy or creative, fabulous ideas every single day.

But I will say this…the hardest part of accomplishing anything is getting started, even if we know it's something that is good for us or a responsibility that has to get done.

In all my years, just jumping into a task, even when I don’t feel like it, makes me feel a million times better than when I put off my exercise routine, work, or daily chore.

I challenge you to "jump into it" too; the next time you aren't feeling motivated, write down your goal, whatever it may be, and then go for it anyway.

After you have completed your task or goal, make a note of how you feel now that you chose to be disciplined and got it done!

This tactic will empower you to stay disciplined when the motivation to accomplish something fades. And 99% of the time, you will feel so much better and happier for it.
